Government censorship is a little bit different. The U.S government has a lot of power, but it also has to allow its citizens certain freedoms. One thing we have here in the U.S are amendments within the bill of rights. The first amendment grants us the freedom of speech, which protects us from the government trying to suppress ideas and information. It also prevents the government from for censoring books, newspapers, magazines or things on the internet.

The government can censor:

  1. Hate speech

  2. Saying anything that may cause panic
  3. Threats of terror against the country or another individual
